Presidents Report - July

Another month has passed and we are still experiencing warm weather and beautiful water. Those lucky enough to have been diving have great tales to tell of flat seas and unlimited viz.

It is whale season again and many have been active off the Central Coast . From the headland vantage points, pods heading north can be easily seen. They are slowing down to give great breaching and tail slapping displays. So if you are out in the boat keep an eye out for great photo opportunities.

Scubascope has not been printed lately due to a lack of articles. If you are interested in presenting a trip report or have interesting story or history articles please feel free to contribute.

The website has undergone some changes. Mark Corless has devoted some time to training some members to update the site. New information that appears in Scubascope will also appear on the website each month. So if you miss out on a programme just follow this link http://www.cci.net.au/scuba/schedule/diveprogram.doc .  Thank you Mark, for the time that you have taken to train us.

The change of TUG from a company to an association is on track. As noted in previous reports, TUG would financially benefit from the changeover with no day to day difference noted by club members. The reason for and the benefits of the change have been presented to the group over the last few meetings and we have been progressing steadily along this path. We are hoping that the changeover can be completed by June 30th so that we will not have to pay for audit fees next financial year. The new association has been formed and bank accounts are currently being set up. More information will be issued at the July meeting. You will notice that on the membership renewal forms, TUG has an Inc. instead of the usual Ltd suffix. On rejoining the club you will automatically become a member of the new association. The old company will be wound up with all assets transferred to the new association. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Peter Hudson , Leon, Tim and Marc for all the work they have put in to make the smooth transition.

The picnic day at Catherine Hill Bay went remarkably well. Everybody enjoyed the day so much that we are planning a return trip with a BBQ lunch to top it off. Please enjoy the trip reports and photos in this issue of Scubascope.

On a serious note – it’s that time of year again - fees are due. A gentle reminder is included in this month’s Scubascope. When filling in your information please include a current email address if you have one as we like to keep everybody up to date on dive information. We would also like to take this opportunity to canvas members to see if Scubascope continues in its present form. There are various options – hard copy as presently sent, bimonthly or via a web link to those with web access. On your renewal form, please let us know your preference and any comments you have on the current format.

Enjoy the month diving and see you at the next meeting.

Paula
